Walk Description

A walk with plenty of up. The route climbs from Stocksbridge Town Hall to Bolsterstone, before descending down to the Ewden Valley, The route then climbs again to Spout House Hill, with views across to the Pennines, the Ewden Valley and Wharncliffe Crags. The walk then descends into Glen Howe Park before it ends on the main road through Wharncliffe Side.You can catch a bus back to Stocksbridge from the stop near the Blue Ball Inn.

  • Grade – A demanding walk with plenty of ascents. The paths are well marked. There is a section on quiet roads.
  • Start – Stocksbridge Town Hall, Manchester Road.
  • Public transport – 57 and SuperTram Link
  • Refreshments – In Stocksbridge and Wharncliffe Side
  • Public Toilets – none on this route.
